Seniors participate in Senior Sunrise, a tradition here at Southside High School, another year. The event takes place before school starts and students wear their pajamas out on the football field, which they stay in throughout the school day.
According to one senior, Nathaly Linthavong, “Senior Sunrise is when all the seniors get together one morning and we go take pictures and eat food together.”
Another senior, Dung Vo, described it as “basically whenever all the seniors go watch the sunrise together on the football field.”
Although Senior Sunrise officially starts at 7:15, Nathaly said, “I woke up around 6:20 and I still made it late. I got there at 7:30.”
However, Dung says, “I woke up pretty late, like at 6:30, but I still got there at 7:15.”
When asked about her personal experience during the event, Nathaly said, “It was a lot of fun, we got to wear our pajamas, take pictures, eat food, and just chat amongst ourselves.”
Dung said, “It was actually really amazing. I got to spend a lot of time with my friends and there was food and we took a lot of pictures, like, what more can you ask for?”
According to Dung, the best part of the morning was “the chicken minis” from Chick-Fil-A. Nataly, on the other hand, said, “I really liked taking pictures.”
Having the event so close to the beginning of the school year allows students to not only set their day off on the right foot, but also the final year at Southside.
