Hamas, stationed in Gaza, attacks Israel and has been increasing in tension constantly. With Hamas attacking Israel, Israel’s troops deploy to defend their country.

     On Saturday, October 7th, Hamas started the attack by sending many small carrier drones carrying advanced bombs while the infantry and gliders moved in from the south. They also began to attack Israel from the west port, attempting to bomb multiple buildings. However, the air defense system, called the Iron Dome, can detect aircraft and fire counter-attacking missiles.

     Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Hamas had been beheading soldiers of Israel and doing other horrific things. Gaza, the headquarters of Hamas, is holding over 150 estimated hostages, so it makes things difficult for Israel to counter-assault.

     Hamas attacked Israel because they “are continuing the project of expanding territory .”Multiple years ago, Gaza disagreed with the territorial split between Gaza and Israel and sought to claim all of the territory for themselves.

      “We’re sending additional military assistance to the Israel Defense Forces, including ammunition, interceptors, replenishing the Iron Dome. We moved the U.S. carrier fleet to the eastern Mediterranean. We’re sending more fighter jets there for that reason. And made it clear to the Iranians: Be careful,” said President of the United States, Joe Biden, in an address to the white house.

     Casualties are unknown, but the first bombardment alone killed 1,417 – about half women and children – and wounded 6,000 more, according to Israel-Palestinian health officials. Israel, on Sunday, hated the entry of food, water, fuel, and medicine. With little electricity and harsh food and water conditions, many more are expected to perish.
