Rock Band Flies Through Music Charts

Rock Band Flies Through Music Charts

Elaina Haney, Head Video Director

In late August of this year, the metal band Motionless in White released a new album, Scoring the End of the World. The album has been a huge success, reaching #7 on rock radio charts and reaching millions of fans. The album is one of the most moving and beautiful albums I have ever heard and is relatable to a large span of people.

The album has an amazing balance of positive songs with a sense of freedom, and negative songs about being lost, not knowing who you are, leaving toxic relationships, and having to discover yourself again. The singer, Chris Motionless, says he wrote the songs from “the perspective of the initial emotions at the dawn of a long journey of self-forgiveness.” His work is truly inspiring, as this album was the first without some sort of positive message in every song. The composition of the music fits the lyrics perfectly, and you can clearly tell the theme of each and every song.

The best two songs, in my opinion, are Cause of Death and Burned at Both Ends II. These sounds have similar compositions, they are both fast-paced with a slower chorus, and both have an echo effect added to parts of the song. Chris uses his ability to scream the lyrics to emphasize the pain and hurt in each song. In both songs, every instrument aligns perfectly and works together to create a best-selling song. While I regard these songs as the best, the entire album is a work of art that should be appreciated, as the entire band put two years of work into it to perfect it and make the experience worth it.
