As the holiday season approaches, our community is full of joyful celebrations. From enjoying performances of “The Nutcracker” to selecting Christmas trees, there are a variety of winter activities to delight everyone.
Lollis Christmas Tree Farm, a family-owned business in Rudy, Arkansas, has created holiday memories since the early 1980s when Buddy and Connie Lollis first established the farm. Now in its fourth generation, the farm specializes in Leyland Cypress and Virginia Pine trees, offering a unique “You Choose, We Cut” experience for finding the perfect Christmas tree. In addition to a variety of trees, the farm provides handmade wreaths made to order, along with keepsake ornaments to enhance your holiday décor. With prices starting at $30 and increasing per foot, there is a tree to fit every home and budget.
The Western Arkansas Ballet will present its 39th annual production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22, at 2:00 p.m. Performances at the ArcBest Performing Arts Center in Fort Smith. Tickets go on sale starting Nov. 11, with prices set at $30 for adults and $20 for children and students with a valid ID.
The Creekmore Holiday Express offers a vibrant journey through the enchanting display of animated lights at Creekmore Park during the holiday season. The train operates from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in December, excluding Sundays, and serves as the western end of the Arkansas Trail of Lights, creating an unforgettable experience. While there is no cost to ride the train, donations are welcomed, making it a popular attraction for visitors of all ages. Creekmore Park has three miniature trains, including the #200 Electric Steam Engine from the Western Train Company and the Creekmore Express diesel train. However, the steam engine currently needs funds for restoration.
