The Cabot School District was the proud host of this year’s 2025 6A State Volleyball Tournament and welcomes teams and fans from all around the state of Arkansas. The games were held at the Cabot High School Panther Arena. The tournament was held through Oct. 27- 29, 2025. The championship game will be held this weekend in Hot Springs.
Fort Smith Southside Lady Mavericks were one of those volleyball teams to make it to the state tournament. They won their first games against North Little Rock with 25-14 the first set, 25-17 the second set, and 25-8 the last set meaning The Lady Mavs won their first three sets back to back. This made it a short and sweet game with a place into the next round against Conway set for the 28th.
When the Lady Mavs went up against Conway their first set started off strong with the Lady Mavs staying a few points in the lead until Conway won their last few points while the Mavs stayed at 22 points. While they lost their first set the Mavs won their second set with a close 25-22. Unfortunately, Conway won the last two rounds with 25-22, making them move onto the next round and sending The Lady Mavs home.
“It was great getting able to go to state, it’s always a great opportunity. Even after losing our second game it still felt great to have this opportunity to show off our teamwork skills and how well we can work together as a team.” Said Ella Shelby who is a current Junior and on The Lady Mavs volleyball team.
When the 2026 volleyball season starts up we cheer on our Lady Mavs for them to make it to the state tournament again and hopefully to the championship.
