The rivalry between Southside High School and Northside High School is one of the biggest and most intense rivalries in the state of Arkansas. On Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, the two schools faced off in a big basketball game at Southside High School. Fans were absolutely packed into the Southside gym, also known as The Barn, cheering for both teams. The boys’ basketball game saw the Northside Grizzlies beat the Southside Mavericks 63-39. Northside played great defense and scored very quickly, taking control of the game early on.
The girls’ basketball game quickly became one-sided. The Lady Grizzlies ended up crushing the Lady Mavericks 73-26. Northside played very well as a team, and everyone could see from the start that they were in charge. With both the boys and girls teams winning, it was a great night for Northside in this year’s basketball rivalry.
But things were different when these two schools met in football. On August 29, 2025, Southside’s football team beat Northside 27-7 in a game that had fans on the edge of their seats. Southside celebrated this win because it marked their third straight victory over Northside in football. Southside played very hard, both offensively and defensively, and made sure to keep their rivals from getting into the game. Southside fans celebrated a huge win and a great way to start the football season while keeping their streak alive.
Additionally, in the 2025 girls’ volleyball season, Southside also had a strong year against its rivals. On September 13, 2025, Southside beat Northside in a very close match, winning 3-2. Both teams played very hard, and the game definitely kept fans on the edge of their seats, too. Then, on October 14, 2025, the two rival schools’ volleyball teams met again, and Southside won another five-set match against Northside. The final scores read 25-10, 19-25, 25-15, 22-25, and 16-14, highlighting how close these teams were. By winning both games, Southside swept over Northside that season, showing that they dominated the rivalry that year. The games thrilled fans with long rallies, big hits, and lots of cheering from students and families. Southside’s wins made the 2025 Battle of Rogers Avenue a season to remember for the volleyball team.
