On November 1st, 2025, the Dodgers cemented themselves in history as they won back-to-back World Series for the first time since 2000. This was no easy feat, as Game 7 of the World Series was a hard-fought comeback win for the Dodgers.
For game seven, the pitching match was definitely a sight to see. For the Blue Jays, it was three-time Cy Young winner and Two-time World Series champion Max Scherzer. On the other side was a three-time MVP winner, two-time World Series champion, and dual pitching and hitting threat, Shohei Ohtani. Scherzer pitched for 4 1/3 innings, earning only one run on four hits. On the other hand, Ohtani had a rough outing as he gave up three runs on five hits in only 2 ⅓ innings.
Later in Game 7, the Dodger ace, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, came in after pitching six innings of one-run baseball in Game 6 and also a complete game for Game 2, ending with 1 run on 4 hits. In game 7, he recorded the last two outs in the 9th, then hammered down on the Blue Jays lineup in the 10th and stayed in for the 11th. After all this, there is no doubt who the winner of the World Series MVP was.
The Dodgers were down one run with two outs remaining in Game 7. The Dodgers got it going with a game-tying home run from Miguel Rojas in the 9th inning. Then the catcher, Will Smith, proceeded to hit a game-winning home run in the 11th inning.
The offense was not the only thing that helped the Dodgers win; before that, there were two incredible defensive plays made by Miguel Rojas, who had a close play at the plate, and Andy Pajes, who chased a deep drive and the left center field gap. If Miguel Rojas did not complete his off-balance throw, the Blue Jays would have won the World Series.
As the game was entering the 9th Inning, drama began as the Dodgers were down one. Miguel Rojas came up to the plate with no runners on and launched the baseball into the Blue Jays’ left field bullpen. This ended up being his first extra-base hit in the postseason.
This World Series will surely go down as one of the greatest in history, as the Dodgers completed the comeback down 3-2, and had to win Game 7 on the road in Toronto. Nothing beats a 7-game World Series, partnered with a dramatic ending.
