“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is one of my absolute favorite shows. It is based on the book series by Jenny Han, and it is definitely a show full of love, family, and friendship. From the very first episode, I was hooked. It’s nowhere near the kind of show that is boring or silly. It’s the kind of show that you’d want to watch absolutely any free chance that you get. It’s a very detailed show, with so much that goes into it. It’s the kind of show that makes you smile, but also cry, and remember what it is like to grow up and fall in love for the first time. I honestly think that everyone needs to watch this show, and that it is not something anyone should skip out on watching.
The story follows Isabel “Belly” Conklin, played by Lola Tung, who spends every summer at Cousins Beach with her family and the Fisher family. However, this summer is different; Belly has grown up, and people are starting to notice her, especially the Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah. The story of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” focuses on how Belly deals with her feelings for both Conrad and Jeremiah while also figuring out who she really is.
One of the best parts of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is the Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah. They’re both so different, but that’s what makes the story interesting. Conrad is quiet and keeps his feelings bottled up, which makes him hard to read but also very lovable. Jeremiah is the complete opposite. He’s open, funny, and he always shows how much he cares. You can tell that both of the brothers really love Belly, and it’s really easy to see why she is stuck between the two of them. You can tell that the bond between these brothers is very special, even though things get complicated and out of hand sometimes between them.
The characters are what make this show so extremely special and incredible. Belly’s character feels real because she isn’t perfect. She makes mistakes, lots of them, she gets confused, and sometimes she doesn’t know what she wants, just like most teenagers. I think that Lola Tung does a phenomenal job showing all of Belly’s emotions. Conrad and Jeremiah are also great characters. Conrad is a lot more serious and quiet, while Jeremiah is fun and easygoing. It’s easy to understand why Belly has a hard time choosing between them, but there is only one right answer.
One thing I really love about this show is how beautiful the whole show and scenery look. The beach, the sunsets, and the summer vibe make it feel like a dream. I truly think that there is nothing better than being in love on the beach, during the summertime, and this show is the perfect example of that. The music choices for this show are so incredible that I can’t even put them into words. The music fits every scene absolutely perfectly and especially makes the emotional parts even better and stronger. You can almost feel like you’re right there with the characters, especially the hot Fisher brothers, sitting on the beach and watching the waves.
Even though this show is full of romance, it also has really deep moments about family and loss. The bond between Belly and her mom, Laurel, shows how hard it can sometimes be for parents and kids to understand each other. The story line with Susannah, the Fisher boys’ mom, adds a really emotional side to the story. It reminds us that summer isn’t always just about fun- sometimes it’s about saying goodbye and growing up.
In the end, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is a show that makes you feel every single emotion. Happiness, sadness, and everything in between. It captures the feeling of summer and also what it’s like to experience love for the first time. It is very sweet, emotional, and also very easy to relate to.
If you haven’t watched this amazing series yet, you really should. I think that it is a show that teaches you a lot of perspective, and life lessons about love, trust, decisions, and much more. It’s a show full of fun, touching, and full of heart. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is more than just a summer love story; It’s about growing up, finding yourself, and cherishing the people you love.
